Diesel schools

Looking for information on short course diesel engine repair schools in Florida. Tech. school or community college, anywhere from 1 to 10 weeks in length. Trying to polish skills before taking off.

It may not be exactly what you''re looking for, but I recently attended courses on Marine Diesel Maintenance offered by Mack Boring & Parts Co. and was highly impressed. The course was in north New Jersey, but they do have other locations. The first course is a one day overview of the different systems (cooling, electrical, fuel, lubrication). This course is a pre-requisite for the two day, hands on course. During the two day course, we changed raw water impellers, removed and replaced heat exchangers, replaced primary and secondary fuel filters, bled high and low pressure fuel lines, replaced injectors, re-torqued the head and adjusted valves. People who had Yanmar engines worked on the same model engine that they have on their boat. Since I have Volvos, I worked with a comparable Yanmar. I was highly impressed and found the courses very helpful. You should be able to contact them by calling 1-800-Mack Engine, I believe that the best contact person is Lorainne.

welch,

I have taken both a power squadron and the
Mack Boring - Yanmar Diesel course in Wilmington, NC While the power sq. course was good if what you need is a general understand of the diesel engine, the Mack Boring course was outstanding and much more indepth. I highly recommend it!
