Re: New Cushions/Upholstery !

We did the hull striping last year. My wife is redoing cushions in the cabin for her winter project this year. 3/4 done and looking pretty good!

LOL...no not yet anyway...I figure I got til she gets splashed to do the ritualistic stuff. Like making sure ALL evidence of the old name is gone. I mean, how coould I keep "Jeanne's Wish,"?I don't even know a Jeanne. At least, not well enough to name my boat after anyway!!

SloopDogg...

Apparently, if you insribe the original name somewhere on the boat, down below in a corner some where perhaps...?
The Bad Luck Fairy will pass you by....
This is not a tried and true method, just something that one of my fellow boaters in the office did.
Of course, they haven't had the new name applied to the boat yet...so this could all be bunk.

It appears there is a thread jacking going on here and I apologize!

Yea, I read somewhere else, recently, that you need to wipe out any evidence of the old name.

I also read, in a book about sailing around cape cod, that you just needed to do it while on dry land.

My O'day had it's name changed somewhere along the line as I could see the outline of one name and the guy I got the boat from said he found documentation of a different name. I never named that boat.

Personally, I feel that taking an old boat like mine and bringing it back to life should, in itself, appease, the bad luck fairies.

Re: New Cushions/Upholstery !

I would tend to agree.
Our poor girl went largely unloved for a few seasons before we bought her last spring. We have some catching up to do, but the new cushions and striping are a good start.
A new head may follow...
cha-ching...but...only 37 more sleeps til we splash!

HBB,

I'm very happy for you and I can really sense your anticipation. It is really great!!!

I have a good list still ahead of me so, all I'm feeling right now is apprehension!! LOL

Actually, The list isn't that bad...I just have to schedule it all out and this shoulder recovery is eating up valuable weekends!

Re: New Cushions/Upholstery !

I hear ya about time....seems like we just splash and it's time to haul out.
But, we're off to a better start this year, and May 10th won't come fast enough!

Mr. Rafford...would love to see pics of your 40...I'm curious how much of a diff there is down below. Biggest I've been on is a 36, (one that we looked at, but it needed too much love, and has been in dry dock for over 5 years now...).

We're happy with our 30, but ya never know...

Happy Easter, folks.

Kim
