Angry Universal 25 question

What is that white cylindrical shaped thing hanging over my transmission. I have an 83 catalina 30 and a small oil hose dropped off that unit and oil flowed all over my engine compartment. What is it and why is it resting on my transmission.

Typically the FWC heat exchanger sits behind the block over the gearbox.. perhaps you have an oil cooler too??? If so there will be water hoses going to it as well.

Faster, Thank you for your reply. Yes it does have water hoses attached to it and one end says Zinks with a wrench fitting. Should I open that and see if it needs zink replacements?

The fact that it holds a zinc points to this being your coolant heat exchanger and, yes, the pencil zinc could well need replacement. The bigger question is why oil leaked out if this unit (if in fact that's where it came from)
