Which electric fuel pump to add in series on a M5411

uh.. I have a squeeze bulb on mine just like the one on a outboard. works great after filter changes. Never had a problem with it otherwise.

I just installed this with a new Racor 500:

Configuration is tank -> Racor filter -> Walbro -> engine (yanmar 2gm20f).

I turned the pump on and the Racor filled up in under 5 seconds.
I ran the pump for an hour (installed fuel polishing valves and T as well) and got about 7 oz of water out.
Switched it over to the engine, changed the primary filter and bled the line in a few seconds with just a quick flick of power to the pump.

The engine draws fuel just fine with the pump off (it is designed for flow thru).

Lots of lurking here led to this system which is simple yet very functional. Thanks to everyone who provided all the little bits and pieces of info.

I see you have protected the system by filtering the fuel before the pumps but--

Inlet Filter Screen: 70 micron--From the pump specs

Might be something to remember is you run into fuel starvation problems.


The other thing to remember is that with the eletric pump pushing through the manual on the the engine there is the danger that if the diphram on the manual ruptures the electric will fill the engine crankcase with fuel.

Only for this reason would I tee and go around the engine fuel pump.
