Yanmar electrical smell

Please excuse typos and brevity - am on mobile phone. My yanmar is turning overbut not starting. Producing slght electrical burning smell. Also, the glow plug button is hot to the touch. Any insights based on this limited info? Thanks in advance....

What type and year yanmar. Is this a new problem, a new to you boat? how long has it not been used, other history. do the injectors get fuel? How charged are the batteries? What is the outside tepature where you are. At a normal temp your glow plugs may not be needed. When was the last time it was running.

I would check the conection at the starter and engine ground.

Glow plug button shouldn't be hot! I would start by looking at that circuit. Could have a short. If the glowplugs aren't heating the cylinders, that could explain the hard starting.
