Yanmar 3GM30F Primary fuel filter

My Primary filter is a R11T. The bowl the filter sits in is small just a little
larger than the filter. My question is does the R11 filter water? or does it
clog it?. There is a drain **** on the bottom of the bowl. Should I drain
it on a regular basis or should I replace the current set up with a water
separator filter?

thats a "Racor" filter.

while not specifically a water separator, it will do the job. Yes, drain the water out of the bowl... then stop, no need to drain the whole bowl.

You can certainly install a separate water separator if you wish, and leave this as your fuel filter, but... if it ain't broke...

The filter is designed to remove water at a 99% efficiency rate. What the saturation point or maximum amount of water it can handle before it needs to be replaced, I do not know. Therefore, per the OP's query, his R11T will separate out the water from his fuel. I don't understand what you mean above re: not specifically a water separator. What is the difference between a water "separator" and a an element that filters/separates out water from fuel?
