I had a 24" crescent, but it kept jumping off the nut.

Smart. Well done. Nice to see examples like this, in case one needs something similar in the future.

Thanks S34 for your explaination. I am in the process to rebore my 3GM30 and last evening I screwed around with this disc for at least an hour before giving up. I removed the 6 bolts retaining the disc but it would just not come off. I stopped because I was afraid to damage something. Now that I know that it will come off by pulling on it, I will give it another try tonight. I was reading your first post like if I wrote it.

Thanks again

Just be gentle with the female spline. The splines can be deformed easily, as I found out before I used the coach bolt method.(levering with a bar down the spline) A small triangular rat-tail file soon set the grooves right.

I had to reduce the diameter of the coach bolt head to just fit inside the female spline, as nothing "off -my-shelf", with the right length of thread, was suitable.
The old adage, "there is an easy way to do everthing is so true."

All the best for 2012!

Hi

That's it. I removed it using your method. The little bugger was stuck in there solid. I did not bother using a steel bar like you. I just used a piece of 2x3. I figured it you'll be easier to drill the hole.

The only negative is that three out of five bolts broke in the crankshaft. I drilled and removed one already. Two more to go.

Thanks for your help.
