Yanmar 2GM20F Heat Exchanger

Should I take apart and inspect my 23 year old heat exchanger on my 2GM20F? It's not giving us any problems, but I have no idea if it's ever been looked at--obviously, I haven't in my 3 years on watch. Trying to be proactive, then again I hate to ask for trouble. Just how hard is it? What should I be looking for? Can I just remove the forward-end of the xchanger and the core will come out?

I've got the Yanmar service manual and a 3rd party book, though not in front of me now, so I'll be able to see the technical details on the exchanger, but I'd love some firsthand info.

Thanks!

Just keep in mind that's not a Yanmar.

That's excellent Mainesail stuff, but yeah, I was hoping for more Yanmar-specific info.
