Loss of power on a Yanmar 1GM10?

Would a clogged up mixing elbow cause loss of power on a Yanmar 1GM10? This loss has been extremely gradual.

From what I understand yes. Take the hoses off and inspected for a carbon blockage. I understand you can clean it out, but will not last long as it will probably be rusted out. If it is clogged get a replacement. Yanmar says these are wear items.

I bought a spare mixing elbow for my Yanmar 3gmd just in case. That way if I need it, which someday I will. I have it and do not need to wait if it is back ordered. They are kinda expensive- about $150 as I remember.

Yes it will, but what makes you think that's the issue? Loss of power is characterized by lower revs at full throttle and is most commonly caused by:

1.) a dirty bottom
2.) barnacles on propeller and shaft
3.) air in the fuel system
4.) clogged fuel filters
5.) old diesel fuel (new low sulfur fuel needs a stabilizer additive)
6.) lastly, dirty injector

I have two of these little gems in my boat and they're good little engines. You'd be wise to check these items first before you reach for your checkbook.
