Nah it's not your explanation, it's my 3-d visualization skills. I only just remembered that if you flip a screw around, it still screws the same way. Man, even that statement feels ambiguous :P
Now that that's resolved, yes, your rule makes a lot of sense; I just needed to be able to picture the angle of the blade as it chops through the water.
