If you have the Morse dual levers for fuel control and transmission, and they haven't been serviced (disassembled and lubed) since the boat was built like most, it is likely that dirt and corrosion have built up around the shaft of the controls. I had difficulty shifting between forward and reverse, and also, while shifting directions, the friction would pull the fuel control lever out of its set position. It was a PITA, making engine control a two handed operation. The only solution was to disassemble and lube (I cleaned with WD40 and lubed with white grease). Solved the problem and made life a lot simpler and safer.
If you have the dual lever Morse control and don't have the drawings, I have digital copies and could send them to you. PM me if you need and want them.
