Universal 3m-20 oil level

The rubber stop on the oil level dipstick has come loose. The engine is a M3-20 Universal diesel. Could anyone provide the measurements from the tip (bottom) to the the beginning of the rubber stop. Just to make sure there's no mistake, could you also include the measurement to the top of the rubber stop. I'm not comfortable with draining the oil, replacing the filer and adding 3.2 qts. That just sounds like trouble in the making.

Be safe and buy a new dipstick. The numbers on the dipstick are the Kubota part number. We can supply this as can any other Kubota dealer.

The rubber bushing/seal is to be bottomed/topped out on the dipstick. Simply push it as far up on the dipstick as you can, and push the dipstick into the block as far as you can applying a bit of force, just be sure you fully insert the dipstick and don't just bottom out or jam on the rubber.

Thanks for the replies. I looked into buying a new stick a couple of years ago and found it to be a little steep. Seems to me it was $75.00. I'll take another look. However, given that it should be a minor deal to weld on a stop for the rubber, I can't imagine not repairing the one I have which is otherwise fine. I suspect there are different models since wescarroll implies the rubber seal will top out. In my case it does not. It's somewhere in the middle of the stick. Mu plan was to weld a washer just above the rubber. But I need to know where that rubber goes.

I have attached a photo of the various dipsticks that were used on this particular engine. You can see the where the rubber seal is on each one and none are bottomed /topped out as wescarrol suggests. The advice in his post will provide an incorrect oil level and subsequent engine damage.

These dipsticks range in price from $13.68 to just over $20.

Hi - as mentioned earlier in the thread there are lines and a part number on the dipstick. I don't see any clear indicator of where the FULL mark is, so I'm guessing it is the uppermost mark.
Is that correct?

Hi Dfok. I ended up buying a new dipstick. I assume your asking about the high-low marks. Your correct that the upper line is high and the lower line is low. Based on memory, I think their about 1 inch apart with roughly 1/2 inch between the low mark and the tip of the stick. I'm not at the boat. It's still under wraps.

thanks Zen - I've been measuring with the stick fully seated, guess I'll fill it all the way to the line and keep an eye on everything for a while
