yanmar sea water pump mystery
What the heck? 4jh4e engine overheated, narrowed down to the pump and installed a new impeller but still no water flow so I removed the pump and noticed that the edge of the gear teeth was worn down but only about 1/8 inch all the way around, I looked inside the hole and notice that the edge of the cam gear that turns the pump was also worn down about 1/8 inch so the gears were no longer not matching up. Metal shavings were also in there. These gears should fit like a glove not just barely meshing with one another,
It is almost like a design flaw. Any thoughts on what to do?
