Volvo Heat Exchanger 2002BT
I had a nightmare this summer when my heat exchanger on a Volvo200BT (in a Beneteau390) gave up the ghost.
the new part from Volvo is listed at $3400 (not a typo). I found it discounted at $2,700. I searched around for a used one, found a couple and figured I wouldn't be moving ahead with a used part. I contacted Sen-Dur, who make heat exchangers, in Ft Lauderdale and they jerked me around for a couple weeks. Then I found Orca Manufacturing (also make heat exchangers) in Washington. Dave there helped me through the design and manufacturing and got it to me for about $1,000. (1 boat unit). My mechanic ate up another boat unit or so plumbing the new one but now I have a new HE that has a zinc (original part does not) and can open at both ends, on the engine for picking out small pieces of rubber after you melt an impeller or stuff gets into it otherwise. With about 40 hours on the new one I am quite happy with the repair and finding Orca. FYI!!
