yanmar 2qm15 joint

I recently had a rebuilt 2qm15 installed and the gearbox cable clamp located on the engine block doesn't quite line up with the shifting lever on the gearbox. Haven't been able to locate a part called a 'joint' which attaches to the shifting lever and makes up the offset. Anyone know where i can find one or an alternative fix?

You might try here The ENGINE ROOM
I know nothing about them but have them bookmarked on my PC. They do have a 2qm15 listed to part out. I have no idea how long ago that was posted.

Is the part something that couldn't be easily fabricated?

Thanks...I'll try the Engine Room, and probably would be easier to fabricate something.

So what did you find out and do to resolve your issue?

yanmar shift lever part

Nothing yet, but I"m thinking about making an offset bracket that would attach through the existing holes in the engine block. This would line up better with the shift lever and should be fine. Don't know why the original design.

I think you are looking for the ball socket & connector that thread on the end of the cable. I think West Marine has one. do a seach for yanmar 2qm15 parts manuals, parts dealers list the catalog then the parts.
Once you give up on yanmar, I don't know of a part you can't buy. the big problem is if they are a Yanmar distributor, they can only sell in X area.
I don't know where you are, so there is probably a distributor closer to you then the one in Marina del rey

Thanks I'll give that a try. I'm still leaning toward fabricating something tho.
