Yanmar 3gmd V-Drive

Does anyone know how the prop shaft is removed from a yanmar 3gmd v-drive? I see the coupling- Do I losen the coupling then need to push the shaft out of the drive? That is what it looks like which means to pull the engine, I would need to haul the boat out- Is this correct?
Regards

jrd22 will become famous soon enough
I'm not sure I'm following you Casey. I have a V-drive on a Volvo but it's a little different than most installations but I'm familiar with other V-drives. Normally you loosen the coupling (and hopefully it was coated with Neverseize when it was installed) and the shaft goes out through the stuffing box and stern tube if there is enough room for it to clear the rudder. Sometimes the rudder will need to be removed. The other option is to remove the trans/V-drive and pull the shaft into the boat (after removing the prop of course, makes it difficult if you don't :-)) In either case you'll need to be on the hard (it's amazing how much water can come through a relatively small hole). My setup has a short driveshaft off the trans. to a separate V-drive, so I just remove the drive and pull the shaft into the boat rather than removing the rudder.

I think you answered my question. It sounds like to pull the engine I need to be on the hard. The only other way I can think of is to maybe slide the engine forward (with prop shaft coupling disconnected)- I am not shure if I have enough room to do this. With a non V-drive transmission, seems it is a lot easier to pull the engine. My prop shaft is angled so it should clear the rudder.
