Throttle movement

I have a Yanmar 2GM20 and all of a sudden the movement of the throttle is almost frozen. I have removed the cable from the regulator handle and the cable moves freely. I sprayed WD40 and silicone on the shaft, but it didn't help. Any suggestion on what the problem is?

Sometimes it simply salt water spray that got into the shaft area. The salt causes it to bind up from corrosion (the white powdery stuff).

Usually it takes heat to break it up. Can you put a small torch to the area?

Good luck!

My 3GM30 did this. I think I sprayed PB Blaster where the shaft enters the housing and moved the lever until it loosened. Can't remember if I opened the housing (or if I could) to lubricate from the inside as well.

Throttle Movement

The PB Blaster did the trick. Thanks.

Rockter will become famous soon enough
The last time such a thing happened to me, it turned out that the water pump had shifted round its mounting a wee bit and was jamming the gearshift quadrant.
