Try charging the battery fully. Sounds like you have an alternator belt that may be a bit loose and is trying to re-charge a discharged(?) battery.
You will not have wrecked the motor in that time. Engines starved of lube do not screech immediately. They rattle, and it gets louder, and louder, then they make a whine and a screech as the pistons sieze.

Been there, heard that.

Watch very carefully the banjo fitting that is on the aft end of the oil-line that runs from the oil filter to the governor area. That banjo is notorious for blowing off, and pumping all your oil into the bilge. It needs re-soldering. So far, it's happened to me twice. Be careful. Watch it.
