Volvo 2002 engine

Hi I have a catamaran 11 meter it has twin Volvo 2002 engines I have just remove the riser at the back of head I notice the water slots on the cylinder head are blocked with what looks like some sort of metal glue does anyone know if this was a Volvo mod the riser slots [which a new one] has clear slots the fault on engine is not much water coming out of exhaust thanks smeat

It sounds like scaling to me. Do you have a picture? Does it yield to poking with a screwdriver?

Hi thanks for your speedy reply I am in Cairns Queensland Australia up in the boon docks it looks like a liquid metal substance the holes are clear on the riser it looks like some sort of mod on the head/manafold itself I tried to pick it out certainly not scale ,,,,who knows the local dealer / repair chap is not sure it almost looks like a Volvo mod cheers and thanks again Barrie
