Racing components and systems often make lousy "street" parts. Racers are inspecting, rebuilding, reworking literally before and after every race, and consumer market systems often aren't built to the same spec. A consumer replaces a coolant hose when the last one fails, a racer may fit a whole new set with every rebuild, which may be after every race.

So while the theory is good, it still can't beat KISS. No hoses, no fittings, no possible failures from them.

They don't make lousy street parts because they don't stand up - they have to take a LOT more abuse than any street car. Except for some specialty things like aluminium connecting rods, race parts are only undesirable for reasons of smoothness, ride, power band and so forth. Also, don't forget, after this filter element, he'll have to add NO FILTER to your list.
