Diesel/tranny et al mechanic suggestion in Charleston, SC?

Hello-
Starting to think we'll need some local help before trekking down the coast. Cannot track down a slow rattle in the drivetrain. Very certain it's not coming off the engine, chasing something at the shaft end of the tranny i think. Comes and goes, seems more prominent and lower RPMs and might be a sympathetic vibration? We're not on any schedule, but it's starting to look like we'll need some professional input. Mechanic recommendations would be much appreciated.

You may be lucky. If it's a rattle in the drive disc and you can remove the transmission without removing the engine, replacing the drive disc is a relatively inexpensive. Of course, it'll be more expensive, if you have to remove the engine to remove the transmission ,and then reinstall and the transmission and engine and realign the engine after reinstallation.
