Muir 800 Windlass (frozen shaft)

I am trying to disassemble the windlass (1991); it had not been maintained, and needs a new motor, but the shaft is stuck? I removed all the bolts and
the bolt into that is in the bottom of the shaft that goes through the gear casing. There seems to be no retainer spring anywhere, so I guess that has never been there. Any ideas?:
