Re: Yanmar Parts Prices

No problems Boz--The closest model in Yanmar tractors were YM2000 at 22hp-YM1500 at 17hp-YM1300 at 16hp and YM1700 at 20HP---All were 2 cylinder and manuf around 1975 to 1980 which would fit-Unfortunately I could not find the additional specs to see which if any were 1094cc and with same bore and stroke as the 2QM20--I am fast coming to the conclusion that Yamnar made motors specifically for marine use which are not interchangeable with tractor models.-Cheers-Chris

Re: Yanmar Parts Prices

If you want me to buy them here in the US and ship them to you, PM me. Not sure if it would save you any $, but willing to give it a go.

Re: Yanmar Parts Prices

I just bought a new thermostat for my 2GM20F, it was under $50 (somewhere around $45). I got it from the local distributor who had it on the shelf, but it was exactly the same price at another one (who was out of stock). I'm curious how much a Beta/Kubota thermostat would have been.

I did figure out the Yanmar tractor engine that matched my 2GM20F at one point, they do exist. I'm not sure that parts are any cheaper.

Could you share that model number ? Hoyt Tractor in Texas might be cheaper but I don't know the tractor model number that matches the 2GM20.

Re: Yanmar Parts Prices

I order my parts on line with Torresen and have them shipped to my ma-in-law who is in their region and she forwards them to me. Do you have someone in the states you would trust to do this kind of thing for you?

Thanks all for the information and a special thanks to John for offering to buy for me.Fortunately my brother lives in San Francisco and he is willing to buy items for me,so I will be taking advantage of his offer. If anyone finds the tractor model that our engines fit,I would be pleased to know as I have struck a dead end. Thanks again-Chris

Re: Yanmar Parts Prices

I have been told (though never checked out) that many of the refrigerated truck trailers use a 2-cylinder Yanmar diesel to run the compressor, and that parts for same are much cheaper (at least in North America). Not that you're likely to find any watercooling parts there, however.

I doubt any trailers use a 4-cylinder turbodiesel for refrigeration, so I no longer have any use for this info. Hope it helps someone.

Re: Yanmar Parts Prices

Thanks Redline but I have pretty well resigned to getting my USA based brother to buy Yanmar items for me from marine dealerships.-I managed to repair the expensive thermostat and got my brother to buy the head gasket.
