Change coolant

The service manual to our Yanmar 3gm30f recommends checking the coolant before every start and replace it every year or every 250 hours which ever comes first.

The service manual to our Audi diesel car recommends checking the coolant level every 50.000 km (approximately 500 hours) and refill if necessary.

Does anybody why the engines should be treated differently ?

Re: Change coolant

The marine environment is particularly corrosive. Coolant loses its anti-corrosive properties over time. Recreational marine engines are typically not used daily and are more prone to corrosion from lack of regular use. Follow your manuals as to appropriate service procedures and intervals.

Re: Change coolant

easy peasy

different purpose, different service, different engine demands, different coolant system, different environment, different corrosion issues (yet to see a car with an anode in the cooling system), etc, etc

IF you need a break down of each difference, just ask and I will do so.
