Universl M-25 starter

Well good news my 414 hour 25 year old M25 runs....(well almost ran) before the starter I disassembled and reassembled due to submersion in fresh water fried.

I saw another thread by denise030 where some one had the 90 amp alt by ASE listed as a fair replacement. Does anyone know where I can get a starter as well ?? A NON universal/kubota....

Thanks all

Josh

Check a local starter/alternator shop. If you bring your old one in they can probably identify it and find a generic replacement. I was able to do that with my Universal 5411 (M-15) several years ago. Cost was a fraction of what Universal wanted.

thanks Jim,

I was hoping someone had already been down this path with a starter. There can't be that many out there....or can there?...lol

Since the Universal engines are marinized Kubota industrial engines, you could also check one of their dealers for one. The starter I got for my 5411 was made by Nippondenso. I suspect they are the supplier that Kubota uses.

dont' think it's a knockoff since the engine was kubota renamed universal anyway.

well I am here to tell you, HERE is where to find a starter for the M25 engine. Shipped for $96 BUCKS!

BTW my 415 hour m25 started right up with fresh diesel and purred like a kitten after 15 years of non use (well maybe 100 hrs in that time!)
