Diesel Engine Replacement - Yanmar 2QM20

I am replacing a Yanmar 2QM20 with a 2QM15 in a Catalina sailboat due to a cracked head and block. My question is, are there any helpful hints in disconnecting and removing the engine and transmission from the shaft.

The current engine is completely disconnected and ready to be removed. The only remaining procedure is to disconnect the transmission from the shaft, remove the bolts holding down the motor mounts, and hoisting out the engine.

Upon reinstallation, I do plan on having a mechanic re-align the transmission.

I have been told that once the transmission is removed from the shaft, that there may be excess water leakage through the seal.

Thank you for your time and any help.
