Expected starting current from 2GM?

I have a Yanmar 2GM. I'm making a lot of changes to the electrical system to include installing a dedicated starting battery (charging through an echo charge) and am planning on using the pre-existing Perko 8503 (A/B/A+B battery switch) to select between starting battery and house bank for connection to the starter. This battery switch is rated at 250A continuous and 360A intermittent. It seems sufficient for the starting circuit of such a small engine ... what say you?

If that battery switch is 30 years old, the contacts may be worn. You might want to disassemble it and check it out, or replace it. Worn contacts can mean reduced voltage--or overheating and fire. Or simply "it don't work" when you need it. Thirty years is pretty good life for a switch, if the boat has been used a bit.
