no fuel at injectors

for two years, my ford lehman 65hp runs fine. last month put in new racor and secondary filters. No problem. Today didn't want to start. switched on the axuliary electric pump, cracked the two bleed screws on the high pressure fuel pump - fuel comes bursting out but no fuel at the ends of fuel line into the injectors even after tightening the two screws. Wife is top side pushing the starter, turning the engine an fuel pump. Shouldn't I see plenty of fuel at the loosened injector lines? My mechanic, over the cell phone, miles away believes the fuel pump is fine. afterall, he says , it cost thousands to rebuild - really?

Could there be a problem with the fuel shut off/engine kill. Sorry, I always try to look for the simple stupid stuff first.

first thing my wife asked, topside.
seems she remembered two years ago when wind and current were pushing us toward land and i dove down to start the engine and it wouldn't start. I thru out the anchor-swearing a bit- and took awhile to discover the pulled out shut off cable. hasn't happened since!

I guess you could have a problem with the injector pump. Should be a bleed screw on it an you can crack the lines coming out to check.

Hi, Gene
thanks. it has two bleed screw heads on the pump and fuel comes pouring out but it doesn't come out the loosen injector line.

If the injector pump is not pumping then it is either plugged, broken or not turning. Unless I am missing something. Injector pumps are expensive and difficult to rebuild so lets hope it's something else.

friday i'm going back to the boat and take another look.
they don't make ford lehmans anymore, so parts are gold
thanks, Gene!

call Bob or his son at

American Diesel Corp
PO Box 1838 (Rt. #3 North)
Kilmarnock, Va. 22482
Phone: 804.435.3107 Fax: 804.435.6420

he will know and he has the parts - I would guess a broken spring in the injector pump...he is the god of Lehman...did a ton of work while they were Ford...

Be sure to have the RW intake valve isolated during all this extended cranking!!
