Sedimenter

I've got a Perkins "sedimenter" which is basically a water trap with no filter elements that you install inline before the fuel filter. I think it would remove large debris. Does anyone out there use this arrangement? As my Raycor 500, like most modern filters, has a water trap and the sedimenter would appear to a belt and suspenders approach.

If you had some really nasty fuel, such an arrangement might keep your filter from getting plugged up unnecessarily fast. If the "sedimenter" has a drain on the bottom, it would be a lot easier and faster to drain it once in a while than to repeatedly change filters.
