Universal Diesel M25

I have a C30 with a M 25 motor can I safely run it for a short time while it is out of the water. It has a fresh water expansion tank that is cooled through a heat exchanger.

Yes. if you take the hose off the raw water seacock and place it in a bucket of water. Not in gear for very long though as the cutlass depends on water for cooling.

If you need to run it for longer, but not in gear, you can put a hose in that same bucket, so that the engine doesn't run out of water. DO NOT CONNECT THE HOSE DIRECTLY TO THE ENGINE... that is a really, really bad idea.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

It also would not be a good idea to put it in gear and use the prop as a fan when your working under the boat and it's hot outside.
