How to plug up fuel and water hose holes?

I am in the process of disconnecting hoses, wiring and shaft from the engine to prepare for pulling it from the boat. When I remove a fuel hose (or water hose), how should I cap the connection it was attached to? I had planned on just stuffing some paper towel in there, but I figured there would be a more professional and safe method of capping those holes.

For reference, it is a Yanmar 4JH2E.

a more reliable way would be to find a bolt similar to the line size that the hose went on...and simply reclamp the hose on that ....

if you want to get pricey snapon/matco have billet blanks of normal sizes to replace the bolt or rod stock...

best of luck

are you plugging the hose or block?

most garages and parts stores have those plastic caps that are made for that.

hose, bolts like kd said or some wooden dowel stock cut for a plug.

block, short piece of hose w/ any of the above

duct tape over block fittings also works well.
