Does anyone know of a source for used Universal diesel parts. I need an exhaust manifold for an XP25. Thanks

Universal diesels are actually Japanese Kubota industrial engines. You may be able to get parts from a Kubota dealer at a fraction of the cost from Westerbeke/Universal. Do a little research to find out the Kubota engine model number.

do you need the whole manifold, or the just the injection elbow? A metal fabricator could probably fix you up with a new injection elbow.

Unfortunately the Kubota engine breakdowns I've seen have a different manifold for tractor use.

Unfortunately it looks like I have a crack in the manifold itself.

JPS,

It is correct that the Universal M25XPB is a Kubota and you can get many of the parts from Kubota. However the part that you need the exhaust manifold is part of the 'marinisation' done by Universal. In the tractor engine they use a radiator instead of our heat exchanger hence the exhaust manifold is quite different. Net-net you will need to get the manifold from Universal or get a used one from somewhere.

Sorry, if this was not the news you were expecting. Post of you have any other questions. Cheers.

JPS,

Unless you want to get the part from Universal, I think, the best thing would be to take the manifold to a radiator shop/workshop have them pressure test it and weld the crack. They will clean it before they weld it and they will go a good job. A metal welding will be much more reliable than anything like JB Weld.

My two cents...

Thanks, that looks like the most cost effective solution. I deal with some very good shops here in Dallas.
