Have the trusty MD7A and the thermostat appears to be stuck wide open...can't build any temperature when running. the replacement from Volvo runs in excess of $75.00...is there any substitute thermostat that is "off the shelf" that can fit in the boat. I am sailing in fresh water, so corrosion is not an issue.
Thanks Ed
After wrestling with this myself, I gave up and paid full price. I ended up buying two, but that was a vendor issue. I have a slightly used one and an unused one, both of which I paid $75 for. (Hopefully I can find the new one) I'll sell you the new one for half price. Shoot me a message if interested.
You'll need to check with the local NAPA dealer...there are 4 different thermostats that fit the MD7A (and MD6A also). they all have different heights on the aft side of the housing, so its best to pull the stat and then take it in or do a direct comparison...I got the wrong one on the first pass...and then had to return it for the correct one.
