Oil in my exhaust

I have a 29 Yanmar that appears to have some oil in the exhaust. The exhaust itself is white from moisture when I fire it up if it has sat for a while - there is no black smoke. The white smoke dissipates after a few minutes. The oil is in the wet exhaust. the Engine has 440 hours on it. Regularly maintained with oil changes etc - running engine - use etc.

Re: Oil in my exhaust

I had tired injectors that lead to an oily discharge in my exhaust. Having them rebuilt cut it down to almost zero, although I still have a little bit. My motor is wore out though. A motor with only 400 hours on it is almost brand new.

Oil in my exhaust

2nd on injector issue. You " should" smell the fuel.

The white "smoke" may just be water vapor since it disappears once the engine warms up. Are you in an area with cold water?

At 440 hrs not likely to be injectors and the symptoms don't fit.

Oil smoke will appear blue. injector problems generate black smoke while running.

White smoke is usually associated with water vapour in the exhaust on cool days.

If the engine starts easily, does not use much oil and produces the usual power with out overheating I would stop worrying.

Which makes me wonder what evidence was there of oil in the exhaust? Visible oil on the water where the exhaust water is coming out?
