Vetus M4.17 42 HP

I'm looking at a sailboat purchase right now that has a Vetus M4.17 42hp with 750 hours on it. Not familiar with the engine at all, so just starting to do some research... can anyone offer their thoughts/experiences? Thanks!

I have the 3.10 25 hp. It's actually a mitsubishi. Fairly straight forward and very reliable. My only issue so far is getting parts. We have a distributor in newport beach, and they are very helpful. But I ordered one part that took over a month to receive because it came from the factory in Holland.

Ya, I've heard that parts are a pita. Apparently there's an oil filter at least that you don't have to get from Europe! :S

Oil and fuel filters can be had at the local auto parts store. The impeller and gaskets are also easily gotten. The part I had to order was a bearing seal.
