Yanmar YSE8 no secondary filter - 2 micron racor in primary?
Still learning my boat.
Doing the diesel maintenance on my YSE8 for the early part of the season here in NY. Going thru checklist in Yanmar manual, and in the Don Casey Sailboat maintenance book.
Trying to inspect or replace secondary filter.
Only to find that it has no secondary filter.
Should I replace the primary Racor R12P 30 micron filter with a 2 micron filter and then watch it carefully....?
Or should I try to purchase and install an in-line secondary?
Re: Yanmar YSE8 no secondary filter - 2 micron racor in primary?
So, if what I've read is correct, the YSE8 didn't have a secondary on the engine itself, but it was mounted on a bulkhead in some cases. Have you traced the fuel line all the way from the primary to the engine to make sure there isn't one somewhere along the way? Probably you have, but just checking. Don't know what kind of fuel pump you've got, but 2 microns is a pretty small straw to be sucking through for the diaphragm types.
