Also Cruzpro guages. They have adjustments for various senders and alarm temperature. I have one of their temp guages for my 2GMF. Works fine. A little difficult to see the reading but I have it in a oddball place. It has a backlight.

Wow! Thanks for that. The Murphy documentation is very informative and much better than other gauge mfg's I have been looking at. Looks like these gauges and senders are exactly what I need.
My only questions now are:
Can I use the existing Yanmar alarm with the Murphy sender and gauge?
What size are the Yanmar sender threads? I'm guessing 1/2" npt.
I'll call the sales rep. for the first question and hopefully, they will know the second. If anyone here knows, please advise.

NP. I have been very happy with my gauges. Call them, I found them to be very friendly and helpful. I can't remember the thread sizes, but they offer them in difference sizes. I used my existing Yanmar buzzer and dummy lights.

Hmmmm. I was wondering why all the gauges I was seeing were analog. The Cuzpro digitals look good. I wonder why all gauges are not digital now? They appear to be about three times more expensive, but it seems they would be more accurate and easier to read. Drawbacks?http://www.cruzpro.co.nz/index.html

My guess is that analog is simpler, no "brain" to convert the variable resistance signal into digital numbers? Analog readings should be fairly accurate.

No drawbacks noticed for the Cruzpro temperature gauge. Took a while to find a sender with the proper threads. (I wouldn't settle for the close enough approach in thread type)
After having to replace the recirculating cooling water pump I discovered an extra sensor port so I was able to reinstall the original idiot light temp switch and now have both in cockpit and in cabin alarms. Haven't had either go off yet.

I know this is an old thread but....
I would avoid an ammeter like the plague, I had two '60s vintage cars charging systems totally cut out with no obvious reason due to gauges with the entire alternator output running through them going kuput. Took me forever to diagnose the problem the first time.

I don't think the age of any thread matters unless the technology is obsolete (Often with PC's, not likely with sailboats) or the subject matter is of a timely nature (i.e., current weather/tidal conditions). A pet peeve of mine is when members post before they search. Why re-invent the wheel when so much information has already been discussed? When possible, add...don't duplicate...IMHO
