Westerbeke W30/4-91 Idle Screw Assembly Needed, or engine for parts

Hello all. In the process of re-bleeding our W30/4-91 last week we broke the top piece of the screw off of the idle screw assembly on the governor (part #19282). Apparently these parts are rather hard to come by. We may or may not be able to get one from Westerbeke apparently.

Does anyone have one of these they are willing to sell? Or know the dimensions to "fabricate" your own? The piece we messed up is a hex head screw with half of the threads flat on one side, that screws down with JUST enough pressure to put force on the pin/spring. Obviously since we sheered ours off we don't know how long it should actually be.

Furthermore, I have a whole list of other W30 parts I am looking for (or just want to buy an entire used engine for parts). If you have one you are looking to get rid of, or are willing to pull some parts from, please let us know.

Thanks

I believe that the Westerbeke diesel is a marinized Mitsubishi engine. The Mitsubishi engines are also used on forklifts and Toro lawn equipment. Find a crossover guide, and search for alternate (and less costly) sources. Google (or Bing) can be your friend.

eherlihy. Some Westerbeke engines are built on Mitsubishi diesels. In this case you are completely wrong and MARC is correct. This engine is a marinised British Leyland 1.5 liter diesel. Some parts are still available from ASAP supplies in England but any good fuel injection shop should have be able to come up with this part.

Could be - I am not an expert on Westerbeake, nor do I claim to be one. Thus my choice of the word "believe," as opposed to "know," or just "is." I also believe that some Westerbeake engines were Mitsu, others were Kubota.

I take issue with your assertion that I am

completely wrong
. My point to the OP was to try researching the origin of his engine and cross referencing for a solution.

I stand by my assertion that Google is his friend. I just did a quick Google on the term "Westerbeake W30" and it turned up the same exact OP in Cruiser's Forum, and the following reply;

Re: Westerbeke W30/4-91 Idle Screw Assembly/An Engine for Parts
I did the same. I got a short (3/8" I think) allen head machine screw and drilled a hole down the center of it and then a side channel to allow easy bleeding. Copper washer for seal. Use a drill press and a new bit. I think I used a 5/64 bit. The allen head allows use of a long handles wrench as access is a PITA, as you know. They come in a "keeper" version which clicks in place, although that bit is plain steel and mine corroded away quickly. Now I just use magnetic. The length is not as critical as you might think, it is adjusted by the nut underneath. I made a spare and will take a picture of it this weekend. If you are not in a rush, I can probably make another pair for you.

Thanks all for your help. Yes, agreed about the Leyland. Ordered a fuel filter bracket assembly from that before! However when I searched for THIS part on the Leyland sites I couldn't find it. Great idea about about how to machine it...I will pursue that.
