It was a popular design, many hundreds were built, and a lot of them sailed across the oceans. The bulb is there because it's an iron keel, so either you make it really deep and have draft issues, or you put a bulb on it (not as dense as lead). Condition of these boats varies, of course, but if one has been well taken care of (keel bolts, keel to hull joint, etc.) it may be a good boat to consider.
