Yanmar 2gmf tachometer pickup

Backstory: Engine ran with tachometer functional when I put it away for winter. Had new engine mounts installed by a boatyard nearby recently, engine wasn't running when it went over so I can't say whether the tach worked right before it went in the shop.

Tachometer not working now. My Yanmar manual is awol. I can't verify where the tachometer pickup should be, and although if this engine has a flywheel pickup it should be obvious, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows.

First question, where is the pickup on this engine -- everything I've read says it's not an alternator pickup.

Also, anyway to test the pickup with a voltmeter (etc)?

The shop says they'll send someone over, but if it's just a wire I should be able to reconnect, and if it's not I'm responsible anyway so I'd rather do it myself. Our slip is a couple of miles from the boatyard which is why I dont' want to waste their time.

Re: Yanmar 2gmf tachometer pickup

The pick-up is on the top of the clutch housing, just to the right (looking from the front; or port-side, with the engine in the "normal" configuration) of the centerline.

Edit:
Do a search for "Yanmar GM/HM Workshop Manual". There are pdf copies online.

Thanks much. Now I can't find my paper copy and my internet connection is down.

Uhhhh...how did you post this without an internet connection? I want to know! I want to be able to post to the internet when my connection is down!

(I usually use my cell phone edge connection.)

Posted with a cell phone, but I'd much rather look at pdf on a larger screen.

Wait, I mean it was magic!

And my internet is back up so I'm off on a search.
