That sounds like one of two things: either a bad instrument, and nothing will work but pulling it for repair. The other thought is that the problem may be a loose/corroded/oxidized connector pin. Tell him to pull the connectors off the back of the instrument and squirt some Bo-Shield or Corrosion Block in, put the connector on/off a few times, then try recalibration and see if that works. The other problem may be the masthead unit. They have a five pin connector on the instrument mast that has the same kind of corrosion/oxidation problems.
