old autopilot replacement

I have an old autopilot on my new to me endeavour 32, it is a BenMar 21 course setter,,,it has an under deck chain drive unit, it appears complete? but dont know if it is operational...any way to use this older unit and just replace the outdated control head? if so , what do you recommend?..
also ...i am looking for diagnostic info for my depth gauge...shows three doted lines but no numbers ...beeps when turned on .......i was told it is a standard horizon unit?......
slowly boat is comming together..ever so slowly....still looking for a maiden trial run before the end of this year....

thats a great site for what i allready have....i am looking to put in something newer ,and was asking if anyone knew if the old under deck parts would work ,and if so what would they recommend for a newer control system.
