LiFePO4 Lithium batteries

Has anyone looked into using these batteries for house or starter batteries ? From what I can find on the internet they look promising. They mention them as being tried out for marine use. I am curious.

If you can get by the price, they have a few limitations, if you overcharge or undercharge them it hurts them bad, they do make a ciruit board to prevent that, but if that shows low it shuts down, would you want your bilge pump hooked up to that? They are not quite ready for most people yet, getting close. Amphour per dollar, flooded lead acid is still top, AH/$/years ?
For long-term use they could work for you, ie never fully charge and never fully drain and you can keep an eye on them, and adjust usage as needed, but they are pricey

You need to have very specialized charging equipment to deal with LiFePO4 batteries.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

"very specialized charging equipment "
Which again doubles the up-front cost of the batteries, according to some vendors. The different stories from different vendors make LiPo all the less interesting to me, I prefer to hear one uniform chorus about whether a technology will or won't work.
