New Victron Battery Monitor is DOA

Hi all,

I excitedly arrived at my boat this morning, new battery monitor in hand, and all the needed tools. Spent a bit of time mounting the unit in my control panel and making the other installations. Wired it up and - NOTHING!

I carefully rechecked all the connections, verified that they were connected in proper sequence, still nothing. I checked the small power wire that comes with the unit and it was working (in-line fuse was fine). I have no way of checking the data cable that comes with it. It is like a heavy phone line with jacks on each end.

After checking, re-installing and checking again, I decided that the unit or some wiring for it is faulty. Damn! So I took everything apart and put all the pieces back in the box and headed home.

Are there some simple tests that I can try while at home? Since the display has never "displayed" anything, I assume it is a power issue.
Suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks, Bill

Update:

I contacted the Victron Rep in Maine and he told me to send the new unit to him. Sure enough, it was a dead unit. He is sending me the more expensive 602 model to replace it. Customer service seems very good.

Can't wait for it to arrive so I can install it.

Bill

Glad they're looking after you, Bill. Victron has a very good reputation the world over.

I'm sure you'll be happy with it once you get it going..

Hi all,

The new monitor came and was installed without a hitch a while back. Very easy and a useful piece of equipment. Great customer service.

Cheers, Bill
