Simrad Robertson AP-11 Auotpilot

I have a Simrad AP-11 autopilot system on my 37' sailboat which has stopped functioning correctly. It displays "compass error" after working for a period of time. A friend, familiar with the system, & I attemped to diagnose it by exchanging the compass with his proven one to no avail. He believes the problem is the control unit. Can anyone tell me which other models of control unit will work with my system. Perhaps I can find a used unit on e-bay etc.

FYI the AP-11 Manual can be found at http://www.techmastermarine.com/file..._ap11_revE.pdf. Compass error messages normall indicate a failuer in the compass madule or the wiring. In particular, check the connections at the Junction Bpx and Computer for corrosion. Depending upon your wire run, you may also have chafed the wire bundle causing intermittent power loss at the fluxgate.
