Electric Propulsion at Strictly Sail

It was good to see all the Electric Propulsion vendors at the recent Strictly Sail sailboat show in Oakland CA.

This year Electric Yacht, Thoosa, AMeP, Propulsion Marine, Mastervolt and Torqeedo were all represented with working units. Unfortunately it looks like SolidNav has dropped off the radar, too bad as it is a good system. I'm at three plus years with my SolidNav Explorer with nary a hiccup. Here is a video SolidNav did of my boat before they disappeared - not much in the way of detail but if anyone is interested in EP auxiliary on a sailboat it gives you an idea; YouTube - SolidNav - Electric Sailboat replacement for the Atomic-4, 2gm20 and other marine diesels

I am actively researching replacing the A4 on my 1971 C&C 35 with an electric system and was encouraged by this month's Good Old Boat. We use our boat primarily for daysailing on the Chesapeake and the engine only for getting in and out of the marina, so I'm not concerned too much about the range limitations. Is anyone aware of a handy compilations of regulations or insurance company requirements that would govern the installation of an electric auxillary?

Thanks,

Mike
