This is no garauntee that the source of his problem is aboard his boat (although this is the most likely case.) And galvanic corrosion is not the only cause of zinc depletion.

Follow-up:

Well, for whatever it's worth, we just had a diver clean the bottom this morning, and he said the zincs are 99%--look almost new--after 2 months. I was not expecting that. We've been running through them the last two years.

However, some boats on our dock have moved around, so perhaps the problem wasn't us. Of course, we'll keep checking, but it's a good sign!

Thanks for all your advice--this time, at least, it may have been a false alarm.
