Question Generator Conversion..

..from gasoline to propane. Any one had the pleasure of converting their portable gas generator using this company's kit(s)?

Generator Conversion Kits to Propane and Natural Gas.

not with that particular company, but my backup genny at the house is natural gas and works very well. Not sure that these would be acceptable on a boat, as propane is heavier than air...and there is little to prevent a little leak at the genny from becoming a big problem. These kits you spec are for "open air" operation...not boat approved.

Your insurance company may have other thoughts.

Capacity of tankage is an issue, as a 20lb propane tank would be only a few hours of operation...I think 4-5 lbs of propane are the run equivalent of 5 gallons of gasoline.. 5gallons is a couple of days of eu2000 operation, IIRC.

Where and what are you hoping to accomplish with this project?

I hate carrying extra gas. Idea was to have the conversion to run both fuels..but looking at the company's specs for the kit that fits..cant be done with a Honda EU2000..it's one or the other...
