Wind power

I was wondering if anyone had experience with the Npower Wind Turbine (400 W at 28 Mph)? It offered at Northern tool and Amazon. My boat is on a mooring, and I was looking for solar chargers, but thought a wind generator would work at night too. The boat has fairly light power requirements, Bilge pumps, lights and radio, no refrigeration, no windlass. Seems like a decent price, unless....

I have no experience with that turbine and don't have a wind generator on my boat. My only experience with them has been being around boats with them. They can be the most obnoxious sounding things one can imagine. Different models may be more or less so. I would suggest researching that aspect if you value your sanity or that of your neighbors

Don't really have any close neighbors on the mooring. There are a couple on boats in the yard where I am wintering. The noise is noticeable, but doesn't bother me. A friend who has his boat in the same yard is driven crazy by it. Something to consider

I just bought the Npower 400 watt, but have not installed it. I will be doing so this weekend. If it generates as stated, it will be a great deal. They included an MPPT controller, along with an ammeter, so the kit is fairly complete.

I'll take some measurements and let you know how it comes out.
