Where does your mast wiring exit the mast?

I am making progress on building a tabernacle so I can unstep my Islander 28's mast myself as the Nordsea 27 does. I am at the point of eliminating the "inspection plate" at the base of the mast and finding another route for my wiring that avoids the very bottom of the mast. I could leave the wires exiting at the bottom but think having them out of the way of the "hinging" would be best. With the wires exiting the mast completely and passing through a thru-deck fitting outside the mast I won't need the "inspection plate". I will need to pick a location on the mast and on deck for the wiring.

How does your wiring exit your boat's mast?
